What is it?

Ever been in a room full of people… all absorbed by their own screen? Let’s flip that on its head! In Music for Smartphones, phones don’t pull you away; they pull the room together. The experience happens right there, in the crowd, all around you. Everyone joins in with their own device, and slowly, the space starts to fill with sound. What starts as individual signals grows into a shared composition: a kind of musical “sound carpet” that surrounds you from all sides. Along the way, short, playful prompts pop up on your screen. Small nudges that bring your attention back to the room, to the people around you, to the moment you’re in. The result? A room full of strangers is transformed, for a few minutes, into a connected whole. It’s a simple way to: – get everyone engaged instantly – shift the energy in the room – create a shared moment people actually remember No need to download any pesky apps, no complicated instructions. Just press play and join in!

How does it work?

Our live presenter, backed up by a looping video animation, guides the audience to a secure website via their mobile browsers.
Once the group is ready, the music starts. Different phones play different parts, spread across the room so the sound moves through the audience instead of coming from one place.
As the piece unfolds, small bits of text guide the experience. Before you know it, the room has shifted from a group of individuals into a connected collective.
