What is it?
The Waterbodies Orchestra is a smartphone guided group experience which makes the audience realise an undisputable fact: they are mostly water. Through this realization comes a new realization: Everyone on earth is a tiny part of an ever recycling ecosystem: water itself.
Guided by their own smartphones, up to hundreds of participants experience a shared ritual of listening, interaction, movement and imagination. As the phones synchronize, individual sounds merge into a spatial composition: a shifting field of rain, wind and current that moves through the space and through the crowd. Sounds of drops of rain come from their phones. These gather into a fierce rainstorm, which transforms into flowing streams; rivers and seas. These waterbodies begin to speak in the first person. They address their joys, hopes and worries. In small groups, the participants then embody specific water bodies: lakes, rivers, swamps, glaciers, seas and oceans, exploring the idea that waterbodies should have rights, just like human being
La Laguna Parla
We’re proud to announce that Venice Immersive – the world’s most influential immersive storytelling event, part of La Biennale di Venezia – has invited us to create a special work to celebrate its 10th anniversary. This live, one-time collective experience called, La Laguna Parla, takes place on the evening of September 5th only, and is an adaptation of The Waterbodies Orchestra.
About La Laguna Parla
La Laguna Parla is a smartphone-guided ritual that transforms hundreds of participants into a living, sounding ecosystem. Together, we give voice to a living entity that isn’t often listened to: the Venice Lagoon, a waterbody under threat. Listening to what she needs should be a no-brainer for anyone who has ever experienced her magic.
In this collective experience, we draw on one of immersive art’s greatest strengths: giving voice to non-human perspectives. It’s a special moment for artists, visitors, and professionals on the island to come together and celebrate the power of immersive art, community, and the need for storytellers to find new ways and perspectives to address and solve the world’s most pressing and urgent problems.
We’re deeply grateful to Venice Immersive curators Michel Reilhac and Liz Rosenthal for their vision in choosing a work like this to celebrate ten amazing years of Venice Immersive, and to Agog for their support.

About the Confluence of European Water Bodies
The Confluence of European Water Bodies fosters new dialogues and relationships with water. Born out of growing water challenges and calls for water democracy worldwide, this grassroots community emerged from a collective pursuit of a deeper understanding of the Rights of Nature in Europe. As a learning system for water diplomacy, it explores, rehearses, and advocates for new ways of representing water within Europe’s cultural, legal, and political realms.
